Desserts @ JDC

with 2 comments

Yes, we’re on a roll these few days :) Visited JDC at Tan Quee Lan St on 15th June after we failed to watch Fantastic 4: RSS (which is not very fantastic by the way) and we decided to have some desserts! Seems to be 3 dessert shops at the place and we went for the least crowded one which is JDC (Ji4 De2 Chi1)

Left to right: Mango Ice Jelly, Almond Jelly with Logan, White Fungus with Payaya

I order the White Fungus with Payaya. Not too bad, it was a tad too sweet but i like it sweet =) Payaya was firm to the bite, sweet tasting and doesn’t have that yucky and vomitty payaya taste i hate. Only bad point is they were a bit stingy on the white fungus but what can you expect from $2? And it’s served in a pretty looking white porcelain bowl, actually i was half hoping they mixed up the order and gave me bird’s nest instead when i saw the bowl =x All in all pretty good deal for $2.

I’ll leave our guru Ah Boon to fill in this comments on his bowl of Mango Jelly
Peng Boon: Okay, okay, I shall fill in this part. As for the Mango Jelly, the mango taste is not very heavy. It may depends on one’s taste whether if you like it anot. For me, i quite like the taste which is not so sweet and not very “mangowy”, easy on the throat :) . Their mango taste are unlike other dessert shop which uses very sweet and probably over riped mango, at least i could still get to eat the chewy mango slices instead of slimy watery slices. Overall, is good as a light dessert after an really heaty meal. But definitely not for those who like the traditional taiwan Ice Mango, probably dats was why i was less crowded than others shop =x

Gathering @ NYDC

with 2 comments

Another late entry. We had our first post ORD gathering on 24th March. The plan was to eat at Sukaru. Our optimism (read: laziness) got the better of us and we didn’t reserve places thinking we won’t be so unlucky on a Friday(!!) evening. And as one might guess, Murphy decided to work his magic – the place was full (%&$%&!).

Walking around with growling stomachs, we quickly settled for NYDC across the road. And as with all our entries, here are the pictures!

Ah hah! The famous NYDC Mushroom Pizza! Mushroomy taste guaranteed in every bite!

I remember this one! It’s called Pigs Can Fly, i ordered it after Choon Kit who sadly could not make it (read: pang seh) at the last minute :(

Cycling Trail!

with 3 comments

Sorry for the long absence but we’re back with more pictures of our food adventures!

Firstly is the cycling trail we had in November last year (yeah it’s really long ago). Organised by the good people from Pioneer CSC. For a mere $20 we don’t have to think about where to go, have our bike rentals covered, curry puffs on the way and we get a bright orange T-shirt!

We met at Pioneer CSC and took a bus down to East Coast and took our bikes – forgot what frame Urata 2006s with 21 speed Shimano trigger shift gears (thanks monkey Ah Seng for reminding me =)). And off we went to Changi Village, the journey’s pretty long but we were just warming up so it wasn’t tiring yet. And we were using park connectors so it was pretty smooth.

After a long journey we were finally there! We got ourselves a table and went to order food. Each of us ordered 1 and shared around.

Bah Chor Mee

Bah Chor Mee from Amigo. The noodles are cooked just nice, not too wet or hard. Lots of ingredients (love the chewy lean pork pieces) and when you mix everything together it simply tastes satisfying. Thumbs up from me!

Ipoh Hor Fun from Wing Kee

Smooth and the sauce is not like your normal tse char Hor Fun. Don’t really remember the taste cos it was so long back. But it’s definitely worth a try.

Dun really remember where they’re from but they don’t taste half bad.

Ok ladies! Time for some picture of army guys!

Enjoying the food

After Changi Village we hit the road and headed for Upper Thomson. No more park connectors, we were travelling on the side of the roads this time. Quite exciting when you are travelling on the road with cars.

After the exciting and exhausting journey, we reached Prata House at Upper Thomson. Luckily there were enough places for all of us. We went ahead to order the pratas. Again my ailing memory makes me unable to recall we had exactly but i remembered the Mushroom Prata was pretty good.

Anyway here are some pics to tingle your tastebuds

Ok the last one looks abit yucky. But it was so tasty we forgot to take pictures until we were halfway into eating it but then again maybe it was because we were too hungry =P

After the prata feast we were enroute to Adam Road Food Centre, not to eat but it was a rest stop cum toilet break.

We then explored the Clarke Quay area at 3-4 am. Kind of weird exploring the area on bikes and i was really afraid of falling into the river =X

–Some memory loss–

After the exploring we cycled back to bike rental shop. This part is the most tiring as the road is goddamn long but at least the roads in the park were straight and there weren’t much people in the early morning.

After we returned our bikes, we went to McDees to have our breakfast. Nothing much – Iced Milo, SM and hashbrowns. Oh yeah Ah Boon decided to go home before breakfast so we ate his share (burp).

Definitely a memorable and wonderful experience. Looking forward to our next cycling trip!
